the bubble

one of my college roommates and bestest friends ever, d-ray, is pregnant and on saturday i drove to grosse pointe, michigan, (outside of detroit) to participate in her cocktail party/baby shower. i LOVED that the shower was at night, it made it so fun and something that i have never experienced. a great idea and when i get a ring on my hand my wedding shower is so going to be at night. because didn't you know, sass in a glass is the new mimosas!
so let me tell you a little bit about "the bubble", as teen so fondly started calling grosse pointe while we were in college. it is a haven of preppy fabulousness. gobs and gobs of affluence, the land of 3 plus carat engagement rings and designer duds that is so much fun to visit. you know the bravo show the real housewives of orange county? well they should have a real housewives of grosse pointe.

i had the honor of being asked to be a bridesmaid in d-ray's wedding in september '06 so i had the pleasure of spending a lot of time in michigan with all of her wonderful family and friends. i hadn't been back to the bubble since then so i was very excited to make the trip for the shower.

d-ray pregnant was hilarious. i mean she was my partner in crime in college, we lived across the hall from each other freshman year. immediately we got along due to our similar choice of clothes and accessories, and the fact that we are both the loudest people alive. seeing her with child was quite a trip.

so the shower was wonderful and the next morning we hung out at d-ray's house and went and visited with the rest of her family. who i love love love. i can't wait till d-ray's little nubber is born in april so i can go back and meet the baby and of course visit the gloriousness that is the bubble.
