well she looked me straight in the eye and said if you spent even a quarter of the amount of time that you spend on reading, commenting and writing blogs on working out you would be a way happier person.
she is exactly right (per usual).
my blog addiction is seriously forcing me to spend A LOT of my free time on the internet. and no i'm not one of those crazy i don't step away from my laptop type of people - anyone who reads my blog knows that i have an active social life.
but if i could just work out and exercise at the same time it would kill two birds with one stone!
after discussing over google talk with maxie we decided that a laptop stationary bike would be ideal.
straight to google i went and there are actually prototypes out there!

now i don't want to EVER be this buff, but i don't mind if a man this buff wanted to be with me, hello lova-ah.
so now that i know they exist, where can i buy one of these things?!??! or maybe i should get all crafty and make one myself. hmm, decisions decisions.
i think i'm going to head to home depot - stat. if that doesn't work anyone have some sweet time management tips for me?
i so want an abtronic or something like that to work out while i type. i'd be one fit machine after i was done.
ReplyDeleteyou are going to be SO jealous when i show you how i already have this.
ReplyDeletefor real
i'm riding my bike RIGHT NOW
sweeeeettt!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey actually have a treadmill desk that they're testing out in (I think) Colorado for secretaries. You only walk like 1mph (which is REALLLLLLY slow), but it's got the computer and telephone attached to the desk so you just slowly walk as you do your work. The secretaries LOVE it, and they lose a lot of weight!
ReplyDeletehaha. God that would make life so much easier wouldn't it?
ReplyDeleteHmm... is that going to have a little space for my chocolate jar (kisses, twix, musketeer, etc)?? Because blogging is exhausting...
ReplyDeleteI do really like the bicycle attached to the desk. That is genius!
ReplyDeleteYeah I spend a ton of time on the Internet to now. But my parents are just glad it's not XXX sites so they're cool.
I could really benefit from this. Alexa - invent it and make millions. I'll invest!
ReplyDeletetrue that.
ReplyDeleteI am taking your mother's advice and getting my ass into shape.
P.S. My dad asked me if my insurance was up to date because I'll be pulling a hamstring or two.
holy crap, I was thinking about that tonight when I didn't go to the gym!
ReplyDeleteI've really had to but a limit on the amount of time I can spend online. I was getting really bad in the months leading up to moving, but I've been really busy which has helped. Funny, I still haven't been able to find time to squeeze in a workout.
ReplyDeletei would work out all the time if machines such as those above were out there....i'd be buff like serena williams.
ReplyDeletethey have stuff you can do while watching tv....should be the same thing, like those little foot pedals.
ReplyDeletei prefer to workout while at work. its great time management right there. i spend my lunch in the gym. its so much easier than staying after work.
I'm horrible @ time management.. which is why I decided to wake up two hours earlier than usual to go to the gym.
ReplyDeleteand honestly? I'm loving every second of it.
Dear God...I love the stationery bike thing...thats awesome. And just think of the sweat you'll break while listening to System of a Down (love them too btw).
ReplyDeleteYou have one of those fancy dancy phones right? Why not bring it with you to the gym ... walk on the treadmill and read your blogs. Bike and read your blogs. Elliptical and read your blogs. The only thing I don't recommend you do is swim and read your blogs. :-)
ReplyDeleteOooohhh I could use one of those!
ReplyDeleteHAHA, thats great!!!
ReplyDeleteIts too bad that you couldnt have a touchscreen computer on a treadmill instead of like how people read magazines?
does that make sense? I dont know how else to explain what I am thinking.
wow, if we could only multitask while blog-reading...
ReplyDeletebut seriously, about this whole working out nonsense. i've learned you just have to make it part of your day. you don't get to choose whether you are going to the gym after work, you day just simply isn't over till you go. or you go in the morning. <--- that option does not work for me because of my night owl tendencies. but its really just about making it something you do and not think about. ya know?
as for being social during the week...i just plan for whatever days thats gonna be and make those my down days. so i've just gotten better about spacing stuff out. and sometimes (even though i hate it) wake up early and do something if i know i wont have time that night.
its an adjustment and commitment my dear...
Awesome. Please make one yourself and take pictures of it.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to read some great time management tips, since just this morning I was thinking: I have not worked out in AGES.
ReplyDeleteI really need to get on that.
Stupid distractions.
(Uh, and laziness.)
is he wearing tighty whitey boxer briefs, or white spandex shorts?
ReplyDeleteI did NOT give them permission to use that photo of me
ReplyDelete@brookem:
ReplyDeleteI believe he is wearing sliding shorts.
Why he's wearing them with sneakers without socks, though, is beyond me.
hahaha that is AWESOME.
ReplyDeletealthough i have no idea what the buff man is DOING. are his arm curls somehow powering his computer? because otherwise couldn't you just hold dumbbells? and also, don't you need your, oh, say, HANDS for the computer??
I've been wrestling with this myself and I am half of the blogger you are. Can't you read on your blackberry while on a treadmill?
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem - it's beyond frustrating. I realized this week that the only solution is less sleep, which I just won't consider so I'm working on something that will slow time down - I'll let you know how it goes.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to multitask on blogging and exercising. That first one is awesome!

ReplyDeleteJust came across this posted on dlisted.com!
I've seen the desk treadmills, but I think the bikes would be way easier (don't need to keep your balance). So on my Christmas list.
ReplyDeleteMy boss at my old job had one of these...this could work for you:

I've heard the stability ball chairs work wonders.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'd love it if for a week everyone on the blogosphere agrees to not write more than 200-word posts. Then I can catch up.
But for the fact that I'm totally guilty of long-posted-ness today...
Perhaps you can wake up an hour earlier and work out in the morning before you officially start your day :)
ReplyDeleteIt will save you the added time of a "double shower" and everything else that comes along with getting ready twice in the same day*

ReplyDeleteI have found your solution (since I work for your mother I have to try to offer solutions haha)
This was not meant to be anonymous I cant remember my password! It is Gen
You come up with it and I'll sell it.....we can all become rich! Of course, you COULD just blog or read less, like your mother says and use the time to do normal exercise.......that would be good too!
ReplyDeleteI'm weird and actually when watching TV will do exercises on my Big ball. Yes. . . I know. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen you find a computer stand that is attached to a stationary bicycle or treadmill, let me know. I need to jump on that bandwagon immediately!
