ReplyDeleteim pretty excited this will be a movie! I read the book back when it came out. It is common sense but unfortunately (some) of us tend to live in a glazed over world where ... He said he wanted to be with his friends, does that mean he doesn't like me? or, he likes his friends more? or he never wants to speak to me again?? OMG he hates me! I think it means...he just wants a night out with the guys.

ReplyDeleteI didn't like that book. It seemed like the basic idea was to tell girls to sit in an ivory tower and WAIT for the perfect man to come along and do all the legwork.
ReplyDeleteThe basic idea holds true, but life is too full of particulars and nuances to buy into the whole "sit and wait for him" idea.
Also, YOU are lovely and wonderful. Don't let the man (or men, or whatever) keep you down. Put on something cute and remember how fabulous you are.

ReplyDeleteI had my husband read that book and he laughed the entire time at was a bunch of crap it was. I agreed.
Sigh. This book is ridiculous, and so is the idea that people need common sense packaged in poorly-written book form and sold back to them. Guys are the least complex things ever. We'll sleep with anything we're attracted to three seconds after meeting it/them. If we're not making moves - and we are nothing if not an unsubtle gender, because we're also mostly idiots - we're not interested. At least not before three or so more drinks.

ReplyDeleteI would get punched on the arm and then they would put their arms around me to give me a hug in one flowing swoop and sometimes a kiss on the head.
I would get asked out to dinner all the time just the two of us and then invited out later with the guys to hang out if I didn't have other plans. And HE would pay.
My contradictions to this book could go on and on!
