people who use black pen and people who use blue pen.
people who use black pen are cool and smooth like george clooney. george would never think of using a blue pen.
do you know who uses a blue pen?
dustin diamond.
why couldn't he have just been samuel "screech" powers forever? he turned into such a blue pen writing douche.
you see, people who use black pen sign multi-millionaire endorsement deals like lebron.
and people who use blue pen sign birthday cards to themselves, or are maxie.
do you remember when it was cool to even be able to use a pen at all? when in grade school it was pencil only? and when one was allowed to upgrade to pen but it had to be wait for it...
erasable blue pen. that shit never erased.
now if you use blue pen i won't be mad at you, i'll just judge you, then buy you a black pen - it's for the best.
what's you pen color of choice?
editors note: it's my sissy and my yiayia's birthday today and i must give them a shout out like they deserve - love you both!
Well now I HAVE to say black pen, don't I? No one wants to be like Dustin Diamond. *shivers*
ReplyDeleteI know I've already told you this, but so the rest of the world knows: I use blue pen because I HAVE TO. And you know what... I think it's kind of pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe next time I see you I'm going to wait until you fall asleep and give you a forehead tattoo with my blue pen.
What does it say about you if you specifically buy many pens of various colors? At work, I have to use blue but when I reach in my purse, I instinctively go for the purple pen. Take that for what you will.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to diminish the fervor of your distaste for blue pens, but there is a real world, pragmatic reason for blue pen usage: contracts and legal documents signed in blue ink can't be photocopied and presented as originals. Of course, I sign with an orange ink-filled Montblanc fountain pen, so I cringe at the thought of how I would be judged. Be gentle.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the green ink flair pen myself...got into the habit when correcting student papers...not as 'intimidating' as RED ink.
ReplyDeleteI never knew you were so ... special, Alexa. I mean to really care all that much about pen color is impressive.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose between blue and black, I'd choose blue. Because it tends to stand out more against the usual black text. Having said that, I use red pens quite a bit for editing at work, though I prefer green because they're not quite so angry.
Wow, I'm almost too embarassed now to admit I like a blue pen.
ReplyDeleteActually in college I had this very elabotate note taking system that emplayed black, blue and red pens. What can I say? I'm a geek.
BLUE PEN FTW!!!!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you!
ReplyDeleteBlue pen just looks trashy.
Black is definitely more refined.
I refuse to use blue pens.
Red is ok.
Black is where it's at.
I actually alternate between the two so I don't get bored. I know, I'm a complicated women.
ReplyDeleteHowever if I could chose, I'd much rather use purple. But we don't get purple pens in the office. Phooey.
I typically use blue at work because it contrasts with the black ink on most of my printouts and reports. I also use red on spreadsheets. Truth be told though, I enjoy purple.
ReplyDeleteit's all about the black, baby. and since you couldn't fit this in somewhere - here's the comment i promised :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A82q3wxe3M
ReplyDeleteMy favorite pens are from a company called Sakura. They're called Gelly Roll pens and I have no idea where to get them in Cleveland. I like black pens over blue, but green is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit it, but I always WANT to use a blue pen, but I know better so I tend to use black. Boo. It's no fun, but I'm not Dustin Diamond either!
ReplyDeleteWrong.
ReplyDeleteBlue is used by confident people, such as myself, because it stands out amongst the other writing on the page. Black ink users are scared to show people what they really think, therefore they want whatever they're writing to blend in so no one notices.
I am blue and proud!
I use black. Looks better than blue pen when I'm writing.
ReplyDeleteHaha. I'm with you on this one. Granted, I never actually buy my own pens. I get them at work (with my cool reporter's notebooks.)
ReplyDeleteHey man I use a blue pen too. Well if one is available. But I am none of the typical blue pen user you wrote about. At heart I am a black pen but I just prefer the color blue. Actually at work lately I have been writing with a hot pink pen and a purple pen.
ReplyDeleteOh and P.S. I met Dustin Diamond once. Maybe I should blog that story.
ReplyDeleteand on greek independence day no less...xronia polla to them!
ReplyDeleteI hate writing in black ink. And I hate writing with those stupid bic pens. I only use the Pilot Precise gel pens. In blue, of course! ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh man, I'm so excited that I'm a black pen user, lol. In fact, I have been known to use a super fine black sharpie. :)
ReplyDeleteI used to hate writing in black b/c it seemed so depressing. Now I'm bored of blue. I tend to use green. Or purple. But most of the time, it's whatever pan my hand first lands on when I dig into my purse/drawer/book bag.
ReplyDeleteI'm blue too! Clearly, we are not all Dustin Diamondy. Work got me in the habit of blue and now I just kind of like it.
ReplyDeleteHOWEVER. I agree that black is the only correct choice for non-work related written correspondence but who does that anymore?
i like mine black.
ReplyDelete(that's what she said.)
i had to.
i also like purple. what the eff does that mean?
i use blue but not the typical dark boring grandma blue! oh no! i use the pastelly-electiric blue!
ReplyDeleteand most of the time i through in some purples too.
Oh, I'm definitely a blue pen person, but I've always preferred color to not-color!
ReplyDeletethis is an unfair question. Cus, let's be honest, who buys their own pens? And who steals them from work? I can't help that my work prefers to buy black pens. But I like to write with blue.
ReplyDeleteSo thats a trick question!
My boss uses green whenever he's editing something, but I like to switch between black and blue. Depends more on the pen *style* than the color. (God, I've given this too much thought already.)
ReplyDeleteI went through a phase when I only used green flair pens. I thought I was the shit. And then I switched to purple flair pens and I was the double shit (is that a thing? Double shit?), but now I'm strictly a black pen kind of girl.
ReplyDeleteBlue pen biatch!
ReplyDelete;)
I like color in my life - and all that black ink from the printer, with black pen, is just one muddled depressing mess.
Therefore, if you use a black pen, then you're depressed.
I use blue, please don't judge me! I like the contrast between black printed text and blue handwriting when I sign letters for work.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm a dork who has thought this through.
Black pen all the way!
ReplyDeleteBlue or Green, sometimes Red depending on what I'm doing...
ReplyDeleteBUT Black ink for formal stuff like invites, sketching etc.
Then again, sometimes I grab a crayon.
Black for important papers... Purple and green at work... Pencil just for giggles.
ReplyDeletePurple is my pen of choice. My favorite professor always graded my work in purple ink. I like to think I'm carrying on his honor.
ReplyDeleteif i had to choose i would pick black... i love black.
ReplyDeletebut my favorite pen to write with is actually brown.
strange? maybe. ;o)
I'm an only black. We're cool.
ReplyDeleteWait. Was that racist?
I have to go.
"The goddamn pen is blue"
ReplyDelete- Liar Liar
Also, Screech was in a porno
I sign everything in glitter
ReplyDeletewho would have thought there would be so many people that use blue pen!! man, i was wrong about this i think.
ReplyDeletewith that being said - i still hate blue ink : P
also, purple pens?!? who would have thought!
this is all so interesting to me.
Pen? What? People still use those?
ReplyDeleteEvery time I have to sign my name on credit card slips or on my rent check, it feels foreign now. And even when it's time to sign the rent check, I have to go hunting for a damned pen. I don't care what color it is. I've signed it with a purple sharpie before . . .
I would love to use a blue pen, however I've found that they run out quicker than the black ones. Which is weird.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm a big fan of red. I think it's the writer/editor in me.
Standard day = black pen. However, I have been known to rock the red pen every once in a while just to spice things up.
ReplyDeleteAnd when I have to do anything math related you won't see me with anything other than a pencil in hand.
i use black and blue and never thought about which one i like more... probably blue since it stands out against black print. but i don't want to be like dustin diamond!! wah!
ReplyDeleteBlue fountain pens... Not black, not a biro.
ReplyDeleteJust blue fountain pens.
Otherwise I forgot how to write and become completely illiterate.
It's for the best really.
blue pen all the way
ReplyDeleteI go through phases. Right now it's blue. But I have a couple black pens that I switch it up with.
ReplyDeleteI LIVE for blue pen. Eff Dustin Diamond.
ReplyDeleteI read the entire Dustin Diamond wikipedia entry and it was so worth it. He has a sex tape...
ReplyDeleteI love how many comments this post got!
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm using a black pen. It's more professional, right? However, I used to always use blue because it's my favorite color.
I've been a black pen girl for years and years. Using a blue pen just feels wrong.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what it means to use a red pen....I love using them.
ReplyDeleteIf i'm forced to use a color other than red it'll have to be black. Nice and sleek.
Blue pen over here. It stands out against black.
ReplyDeletePurple if I'm feeling spunky.
I use blue pen and it's because black is BORING! Blue is also my favorite color so that might have to do with it.
ReplyDeletei am a total blue pen user, don't know what it is, but i just love blue pens.
ReplyDeleteorange, blue, purple, black, green, red, pink.
ReplyDeleteOnly Felt tip BICS for me baby.
If I can find a purple pen, I use it. But basically, I like to use blue when I have the chance because I feel like I have to use black when signing important documents.
ReplyDeleteI always write in a black pen (ka ching!) but edit in a blue one.
ReplyDeletei am a black pen kinda girl. that is assuming i have to chose betwn black and blue. otherwise its purple or green all the way, and it has to be one of those G2 pens.
ReplyDeletethis post proved how OCD we all are.
I'm using black pen :P
ReplyDeletei am a blue pen user, but not a loser :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of purple pens. I used them when writing out birthday and other cards. At work though, it's mostly black.
ReplyDeleteI just recently discovered Sharpie pens--not the fine tip markers, actual Sharpie Pens. They are amazing. Absolutely amazing. And, of course, black ink.
ReplyDeleteAs long as the pen isn't red or one of those horrendously bright gel pens I'm an equal opportunity pen user.
ReplyDeleteSorry it’s been so long, I’m finally coming up from the fog of finals, broken bones and potential lawsuits.
ReplyDeleteOh jeeze...
I'm Vanessa and I'm a lover of blue pens. I remember the ones that supposedly erased, but never quite got all of the marks. I can't help it, I really do like the blue better.
We're still friends, right? Right?

ReplyDeleteSorry, my comment posted twice so I'm leaving yet another comment to let you know, I'm now TRIPLE dipping in your comments section.
ReplyDeleteblack is where its at yo. blue pen makes me cringe and doesnt fax/copy well. its a proven fact.
ReplyDeleteblack is where its at yo. blue pen makes me cringe and doesnt fax/copy well. its a proven fact.
ReplyDeletePink, Purple, Green, Blue.
ReplyDeleteI like my life to be as colorful as possible!
Can't say that I go along with your black/blue theory. I could give you a whole dissertation on why I use what pen colors at what times. On a practical level, blue usually shows up better and comes out stronger than black. But, I love purple!
ReplyDeleteRed pen. What does that say about me?! I love marking up edited pieces from my subordinates in bright red pen. I'm officially a bad person.
ReplyDeleteI'm a black pen! My facebook about me even says, "Things I hate: blue pens." The boss I hated who just laid me off uses a blue pen, however. I think the theory stands.
ReplyDeleteblue, definitely blue, my fave color.. also since they are so hard to find, all i use is black
ReplyDeleteseriously??? 73 comments about pen color? i used blue until about 2 minutes ago...
ReplyDeleteI'm a black pen person too. :)
ReplyDeleteI love blue pens. Great, another reason for self-loathing. As if I needed one.
ReplyDeleteIf you need me, I will be listening to Dido and crying.
I can go either way, it doesn't really matter to me.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I really dislike people who use red pens unless they are a teacher correcting a paper.
i'm a black pen person for my journal and blue for most everything else!
ReplyDeletei find blue more approachable, odd as that sounds.
I'm a proud and committed blue pen user, and always will be. Mostly because I have light sensitivity issues and blue pen is easier for me to read on paper, but I also love color anyway.
