i joined eharmony.
me.
alexa.
not sure why, it wasn't exactly a planned thing - joined completely on a whim. surprisingly it's been pretty entertaining so far except for one little thing.
i've been "matched" with a total of FOUR men i already personally know.
i've been "matched" with a total of SIX men that i already know of simply from being active around town.
i've been "matched" with a total of THREE men that i have ended up being friends with people in their profile pictures.
is cleveland really that small? or do i just know too many people?
regardless, it was something i wasn't expecting.
i like to rationalize my joining eHarmony to this, if there is one person out of all of my friends that would end up marrying someone they met online it would totally be me.
helllllllllooooo my entire life is broadcast online why wouldn't i meet my match there too.
wish me luck.
Good luck! Have fun with it...ya never know what'll happen!!
ReplyDeleteThat would make me feel like a celebrity! Haha ;)
ReplyDeleteFirst, we all know you get around and that's why you already know all of eHarmony. =) Second, I met my husband on match.com. It could work! Can't wait to hear updates!
ReplyDeleteomg i signed up for eharmony last week! i canceled it already (i'll explain later) but that's awesome! maybe you'll find your own little jack horner ;-)
ReplyDeleteOoh good luck! I've been on eharmony for 2 months. I've gone on a handful of boring first dates and zero second dates. So far I've only been matched with one person that I actually know (my ex-boyfriend's friend, awkwardddd) and I seriously hope that ends up being it.
ReplyDeleteThat is wild that you have already been matched with so many people you know. I always thought Cleveland was bigger than that. Good luck with it though. Looking forward to hearing how it turns out. Maybe we'll see you on one of the eharmony commercials? =)
ReplyDeleteHow funny that you know all those guys. Maybe it will open your eyes to see people in a different light. Mr. Right may be right under your nose! Ha.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear more about it! Good Luck!
I can't wait to see you on the commercials with the sappy music staring into your lover's eyes and dancing.
ReplyDeleteGood luck dear! I never could justify the cost so let us know if you think it's worth it...
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm still holding out, but between eHarmony/match.com/chemistry/etc, I'm more and more tempted to try it.
I found my match online =) i wasnt expecting it either. Expand your search beyond Ctown. You never know what awaits you from afar! May suprise you!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck.
ReplyDeleteOne tip though, never meet anyone in dark secluded areas around town.
I had to learn that one the hard way.
Good luck, lady. As you know, I'm an advocate of this attempt.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, Cleveland is just that small...
Good luck! Despite the stigma that exists with online dating...I think you find more genuine people online than you would elsewhere. I hope something good comes out of it :-)
ReplyDeleteOf course you knew all of your matches....you're an EVERYWHERE GIRL!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am totally wishing you luck.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I can't wait to hear all the stories you are going to have.
ReplyDeleteThat happened to my friend as well. She was matched with 5 of our guy friends. But it makes sense, they're your friends because you do get along and have similar interests.
ReplyDeletebest of luck! I'm sure it's going to work out great!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I actually know of a few success stories of people meeting their significant other online! Cracks me up that you were matched with so many people you know, but, it does make an odd sort of sense when you realize you have to have a lot in common with them to run into them randomly!
ReplyDeleteOne of my best friends met her fella on match.com and they're headed to the alter. Good luck to you sweetie!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I've been thinking of taking the plunge as well but I'm afraid I'll know everyone on there too!
ReplyDeleteThat's hysterical! At least you know up front which of your matches are big fat no's.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine met her husband online, her mom met her husband online (second husband) and my friend's grandma (her mom's mom) met her husband online (also second husband).
ReplyDeleteSo um, could definitely work. Best of luck!
It really is that small.
ReplyDeleteIf you see BronBron on there, give him my number!
Oh my gosh, good luck. And, hey, if you think dating a Jewish guy sounds awesome, try jdate. My friend found her husband on there, so i guess it works!
ReplyDeleteYou should try match.com that way you can pick who you like the looks/profile of and then you also know that you don't already know them. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteWoo! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAnd if eharmony doesn't pan out, you could throw a post on craigslist and document the hilarity of the responses.
My best friend signed up for eHarmony a few months ago. He is currently dating a girl he thinks he could marry, even if they DID meet on the Internet.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to hear all about your adventures with this. His tales have been amusing.
I have to say, I'd be a little amused/freaked out to be "matched" with all these people I know or sort of know.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and hope you share some of your eDating trials and successes with us!
woo! if nothing else, it makes for some good bloggy fodder, right? and a chance to dress up cute and go on a few dates... never a bad thing!
ReplyDeleteand you know i met manfriend on a e-harmonyesque site, right?
A, keep at it! I met my husband on Match.com.
ReplyDeleteOhhh Alexa, you're definitely the it girl in towwwwwwwwn!:)
ReplyDeleteYou know everyone in Cleveland. Narm, Lebron.
ReplyDeleteIs there anyone else?
You know, back in the day when people actually went on Friendster??
ReplyDelete.
.
.
That is where/how I actually met Jose ;) True story!
xo,
Kelly
Doesn't surprise me at all, Miss Gadabout!!!! Check out the e-mail I sent you........e-harmony is in it.
ReplyDeleteI met my husband in a bar.
ReplyDeleteStick with what you know, that's what I say :)
Ooh, good luck!
ReplyDeleteI was a little apprehensive when I joined match.com but I just celebrated my one year with the boyfriend last week. :-)
OMG, you must know lots of peeps! Why eharmony instead of match? just wondering, I tried match for 7 days and hated it!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck!!!
Dude. I fully support you. I met Andrew by dating his best friend, whom I met by trolling Myspace. Eharmony is at least way classier than Myspace. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThat rationalization is fantastic. Grade A.
ReplyDeleteAnd honestly, I think any city can get that small after enough years...
Can't wait for the stories!
well, cleveland is pretty small :)
ReplyDeletethat's happened to friends of mine in cbus too though. maybe just coincidence? or fate? maybe your future husband is somebody YOU ALREADY KNOW! it's possible! :)
good luck!
Good luck to you!
ReplyDeleteA few of my husbands friends met online and we went to their wedding last year, so you never know. and sure, perhaps it is someone you already know!
How exciting!
Good luck! Maybe Cleveland isn't small, maybe you just know so many people.
ReplyDeleteLuck!
ReplyDeleteI hope you find deep compatibility with someone in 29 different dimensions!!
ReplyDeleteYou could branch out your search to say... Utah????
Good Lord.
ReplyDeletePlease have much better luck than I did.
ePlum.com
I did not have luck with Eharm but I wish you the best of it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck & have fun. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck & have fun. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you rock cleveland because I've never known a person to be matched to so much familiarity. so popular...
ReplyDeleteWHOA, small world!!! do you happen to LIKE any of the matches you actually know?
ReplyDeletemy new url: closetsareforclothes.wordpress.com
hope to see you there!
-libby, formerly.
Yeah I was matched with a guy at work and I closed it because it was awkward seeing his picture there every time I logged in and I'm pretty sure he hates me for it, but I'm not losing sleep over it.
ReplyDeleteFrom one on-line dater to another, good luck!
ReplyDeleteAnd always meet in public places on the first date, have a get-away plan which includes run-away shoes, and be open minded :) Although I am sure you already know those rules!
ow ow!! i'm sure you'll rock it :) hopefully we'll get a story soon!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! My friend is trying to get me to join, but it just looks like so much work to me. That's probably why I'll die alone.
ReplyDeleteI think it is great!! I actually met my boyfriend on there. I was completely apprehensive about it...but a bunch of friends and I did it and two got married to someone from there and I have been with my boyfriend for three years. It worked...I think it does honestly match you on compatability. Can't wait to here more...I think I have my new post!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I'm on a couple of the freebie dating sites, but I'm thinking of doing the paid service thing. I did the eHarmony questionnaire and I get all these emails about matches and such, but I haven't actually paid the $$ to check the guys out. I can't wait to hear how it goes! Kind of makes me scared though at matches... Minneapolis is a decent-sized city but it's a pretty close-knit place!
ReplyDeleteHA. i've only known about 2 guys i've found on match so far. now i feel antisocial.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck!! Thats how I met my BF and I was the first one to say I would never do online dating!
ReplyDeleteyou have 394 days to go...i would love to put +1! good luck! keep an open mind!
ReplyDeleteI just got matched with a guy I went to elementary school with... in a town about a 20 hour drive from where we live now. And then there is the guy who found me on Twitter that I closed a match with the other day because he is... well - nasty looking...
ReplyDeleteIt is a small, small world. Too small sometimes.
