my newly proposed retain lebron james in cleveland campaign

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

i don't know if i've been under a rock or what, but i knew nothing of this whole "please don't leave #23" campaign until i was walking out of a movie at tower city cinemas and saw this gem of a sign.

no one likes a clingy, needy, desperate guy or gal.

in fact it's usually a MAJOR turn off.

so when i saw the above sign i got annoyed because it reeked of desperation.

i mean, the single tear?

we are better than this campaign cleveland.

i want lebron to stay in cleveland just as much as anyone, and admittedly i very well may shed a tear if he leaves. but when one has to go as far as to literally whine and cry like a baby like the video on the "please don't leave lebron" website, it's just plain pathetic.

so i've decided to come up with my own keep lebron in cleveland campaign...

it's called reverse psychology. think it'll work?

i mean, it seems to be successful on stupid broads who are only attracted to guys that treat them like crap - maybe it should be our new strategy.

playa, play on.

  1. With LBJ's raging ego, I think he'll eat up the single tear campaign.

  2. I LIKE it!! I must confess, I've told you that I am a native Clevelander, MAJOR Browns and Indians fan, and I still have a problem with Mr. James.

He's amazing, to say the least. But I hate the way he's been disrespecting the city of Cleveland by blatantly courting the Knicks, sporting a Yankee hat at an Indians (playoff!) game, and playing catch on the sidelines with Tony Romo before a Browns game.

Everyone in Cleveland puts up with that crap because he's so good. I'm still having a problem with it. I think I'm OK with the second poster, only I wouldn't be lying!!

  3. Oh Alexa...now you've gone and done it. If Lebron leaves I'm placing all blame on you ;-).

  4. Clever girl, you are. I'm just curious if you've been stashing cash in the backyard. Cuz, I mean, it'll take a lot of it to keep him around, dontcha think?

  5. I dont really follow professional basketball, but that first sign does seem a bit desperate. He's one player on the team, the team will go on with or without him.

  7. I much prefer the subtle, reverse psychology to the desperate whining. However, I'm pretty sure that most professional athletes *need* the in-your-face "we can't live without you!" type of campaign. Like Peter said - all about the ego.

  8. I'm probably one of the few but I'm not a Lebron fan. The man doesn't seem to give a shit about this town and that bothers me. Yes he's talented but if he cared about where he grew up and helping to save this city, he wouldn't be so ready to pack it all in and move to NYC.

I know he does charity work and all that but so does every other pro sports player. It's all a PR move. If he really loves the people of Cleveland, we wouldn't have to beg. He's got more than enough money. Someone needs to put the smack down on his ego.

  12. I think we totally need to think about LeBron as a potential beau. Yeah, that's right. It's time to break out your old copy of THE RULES (don't lie, you know you have one) and get this sucker to commit. Just remember, NEVER call him first. Oh, and don't put out.

Don't be so sure, if Lebron leaves, it could be a death blow to the Cavs as a franchise.
