i'm not opposed to beer, i just have always preferred everything else above beer... i can't help that i love bubbles and bourbon.
that being said i'm fully aware of beer's popularity, i mean, is that even a question?
i am intrigued by the art that is beer and beer making and you guys know my feelings on cleveland, so of course i'm supporting cleveland beer week.
the second annual cleveland beer week begins this friday october 15th, and runs through saturday october 23rd culminating with a grand affair called BREWzilla.
as a celebration of craft and import beer cleveland beer week features tastings, dinners and activities at over 100 venues throughout northeast ohio - check out the CBW website for a full list of events or to purchase tickets online.
arguably the most popular cleveland beer week event, BREWzilla is being held saturday october 23 at the galleria at erieview from 6 to 11pm. BREWzilla acts as the closing event where one can sample beer from over 80 breweries and enjoy tons of food and cheese from heinen's and winking lizard.
to read more about BREWzilla and to purchase either brewer's circle or general admission tickets online click here.
but if you have been reading my blog for any significant amount of time you KNOW what's coming next....
i'm giving away a pair of general admission tickets to the BREWzilla event on 10/23!!
simply leave a comment on this post telling me what your favorite beer is and why and you'll be entered to win two tickets.
i'll announce the winner a week from today - good luck!
I just had the Stone 14th anniversary Emperial IPA and it was out of this world good. Fully of hoppy flavor!
ReplyDeleteI really hope I win!

Thanks,

I'm not a huge beer drinker either, but my husband is. His favorite is Fat Tire - and he hates that he can't get it around here! I think he likes it best b/c it's a treat on vacations. :)
ReplyDeleteI am definitely a beer girl all the way, and I have to say that Great Lakes Christmas Ale is my absolute favorite! Not only is it a hometown beer, but it tastes like Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteNot a beer girl here, either, but my husband and his friends are huge hopheads. Give him a California IPA, Racer 5, Russian River, etc and he is happy!
ReplyDeletemust say my fav beer is great lakes christmas ale! not only is it a locally made brew, but i love the taste and it just makes me think of the holiday season each time i drink it...PLUS you only need about three 22ouncers and you are good to go for the night :)
ReplyDeletestella and strongbow are my favs!
ReplyDeleteWeihenstephaner Hefeweissbier (yes, I had to google that). It is a delicious wheat beer that reminds me of travels through Germany. Wunderbar! Locally, really anything made by Great Lakes I enjoy tremendously.
ReplyDeleteousleyr@gmail.com
Right now I am loving Southern Tier Pumpking. On a regular basis though I love Leffe and Trippel Karmeliet. Belgian beers are my fav :)
ReplyDeleteGreat Lakes Christmas Ale. All others pale in comparison. Though, Fatheads' Head Hunter IPA is very good.
ReplyDeleteWyder's Pear Cider is my favorite beer! Not only does it taste good, but it's clear... kind of reminds me of Crystal Clear Pepsi back in the day... haha!
ReplyDeleteDanielle
Definitely La Fin du Monde. Yuuuuuuuuuuuu-ummmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteI really like Negra Modela - dark beer from Mexico. We discovered it while in Manzanillo this past summer and everytime I have one I think of that beautiful spot on the Pacific Coast of Mexico!
ReplyDeletejmb0923@gmail.com
Christmas Ale!! But only in winter.
ReplyDeleteP.S. My word verification was "plums"
Hm.... lately I've been excited about the Dortmunder Gold.
ReplyDeleteRight now, I'm all about Southern Tier's PumpKing Ale. It is hands down the tastiest pumpkin ale available - it is like drinking a pumpkin pie!
ReplyDeleteBreckenridge Avalanche Ale!
ReplyDeleteerikboiler at gmail
My favorite beer at this moment is Buffalo Bill's Imperial Pumpkin Ale. That being said, it will soon transition to Great Lakes Christmas Ale, served with cinnamon-sugar sprinkled on top.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! Im from cleveland! Keep the posts coming -- especially the "The Flats" Videos! My husband and I (especially me) get a kick out of it! I added you to my Blogroll!
ReplyDeletePick on me if you must, but I'm a Coors Light man. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy Christmas Ale & Dortmunders from our very own GLBC (along with a plethora of other craft beers) but there is nothing like a frost brewed blue mountain Coors Light at the end of a work day. Fairly cheap for a case and goes down smooth. Give me a Coors Light, and you've made me a happy man.
ReplyDelete12 dogs of Chirstmas Ale, by Akron's finest, Thirsty Dog!
ReplyDeleteWhy, because I can't get bottles of Fat Head's After Christmas Ale to consume in the middle of July!
as a clevelander how can i not say christmas ale. really have been enjoying leinenkugel berry weiss. and love sharing a wailua wheat from kona brewing company with my girls.
ReplyDeleteGoose Island Summertime, it does everything the name says, it just tastes good in the heat. Much better than Blue Moon and the like.
ReplyDeleteSteigl. Looking forward to winning.
ReplyDeleteOh definitely Christmas Ale and that time of year will be here very soon...Cheers!
ReplyDeleteMy current fave is Kentucky Bourbon Beer Ale although I have many others. I'm not really a fan of bourbon but I still love this beer.
ReplyDeleteToo difficult to pick just one...Fat Heads Headhunter, Great Lakes Lake Erie Monster & Nosferatu, Southern Tier Unearthly & Harvest, Troegs Nugget Nectar & Hop Back, Breckenridge 471, Bell's HopSlam, I could go on and on and on....
ReplyDeleteGreat Lakes Imperial Dortmunder.
ReplyDeleteWish they would bring it back.
GLBC X-Mas ale is soooo played out, come on people.
ReplyDeleteDogfish Head 120 Minute IPA b/c it's extremely hoppy and clocks in at 22% alcohol. Duh.

I discovered this new beer at Alefest this summer and I can't stop thinking about it ... Delirium's Stiegl Radler Lemon. If someone knows where I can score a six-pack in Cleveland, please let me know!
ReplyDeletemagic hat #9 - apricot deliciousness
ReplyDeleteThe best beer I've ever had is called Jezek which means hedgehog in Czech- it's brewed in a small town in the Czech Republic and its amazing!!!

My favorite special beer is the Great Lakes Anniversary Ale made several years ago. It was a super strong Belgian Ale. The beer combined the awesome bubbles of a wine or spirit with the crispness of a Belgian. So good.
ReplyDeleteI'm a nerd for pumpkin beers. Dogfish Head Punkin Ale and Southern Tier Pumpking are both ah-mazing.
ReplyDeleteI'm a total beer snob. I remember the days of ordering a Miller Lite and calling it a day. No more.
(and janguyen - I know they sell Stiegl Radler Lemon at Simonne's & Nature's Bin in Lakewood. Not in 6-packs, though. I WISH!)
favorite beer? as in ever?!? what the? who the? how the hell am i suppose to pick one?!?
ReplyDeletei'll give you my season favorites.
Summer: this year i fell in love with Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy. i stalked Dave's in the OC and bought almost every 6 pack...i swear.
Fall: I'm not a Pumpkin Ale or Oktoberfest kinda drinker...i'd have to settle for Great Lakes Dortmunder
Winter: Last Year was the first time i tasted Great Lakes Christmas Ale. i wont try any other kind. but that's obvi.
Spring: no idea. probably something light. but it's still chilly out so something that might warm your tummy, i might have to double up on GL Dortmunder.
but i also love Dog Fish Head 60/90 Minute and Bear Republic Racer 5. i love IPA's...damn, i love beer.
did i win for most beers posted?!?
Best, most well rounded, most delicious beer in the world Bell's Two Hearted Ale.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite beer right now is Founders Breakfast Stout. And anything pumpkin. Also I really think you should pick me because this would be a great anniversary gift for my husband and I. Also because I am awesome. And I love beer. @jukebox65
ReplyDeleteTroegs Nugget Nectar is heavenly. Every year I buy a few cases and save some bottles with the intention of aging them, but they never make it more than a few months. It's just too good. Definitely my favorite beer.
ReplyDeleteOf course, Cornerstone Brewing Company's 7 IPA is also excellent. They're always changing it up and introducing different hop combos, and you have to respect a Cleveland beer that beat Bell's Two Hearted Ale at the 2010 IPA championships!
Lovin' Great Lakes Oktoberfest at the moment!
ReplyDeleteReviewed the weyerbacher
ReplyDeletedouble Simcoe last night....WOW was this good!

Thanks,
Brad
When on the 20th will you announce the winner? I am really hoping to win!!
Fish Tale Organic Wild Salmon Pale Ale http://bit.ly/FLvCD
ReplyDeleteIt isn't for everyone, but it is for this guy.
My favorite beer is whiskey. :) Nothing beats a Bass Ale right from a fresh keg when it has some of that sweetness that usually goes away...
ReplyDeleteLefthamd milk stout. Creamy and delicious!
ReplyDeleteSince its pumpkin season, my favorite pumpkin beer is the Frog's Hollow from Hoppin Frog.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite beer is Yuengling because it is amazing and that's all the reason necessary for it.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Live to Cook at Home, it's simply too difficult to pick a favorite! It's like choosing your favorite child when all are unique and amazing in their own way!
ReplyDeleteIs it okay if I answer instead that my favorite local brewer is Hoppin Frog? We love the beers they produce and look forward to each new offering!
It's too tough to pick a favorite, but if I could only have one beer for the rest of my life, it would be Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout. The combination of bourbon, coffee, and chocolate builds a complexity that is unlike any beer.
ReplyDeleteI love Pumking. Perfect Pumpkin Beer by Southern Tier.
ReplyDeletePicking a favorite is rather hard, but the Dogfish Head/Victory/Stone Saison Du BUFF collaboration, while pricey was sooo good. I'm also digging the brews made by our local Indigo Imp lately.
ReplyDeleteHonestly the REAL beer lover in my household is my husband, who could practically be a judge for this week, so I'd love to get my hands on tickets for him.
I am not sure that I have ever met a beer that I didn't at least like, but my current favorite is Dead Guy Ale form Rouge!
ReplyDeleteLast night at the Fat Head's IPA fest I had the Bear Mach 10. I voted for this as the best beer of the night.
ReplyDeleteI dislike beer but hopefully I can win to give it to a friend of mine! www.lynnaluvers.com
ReplyDeleteWhile in undergrad, I learned to become a beer fan and now I love it... especially seasonal beers. Therefore, at the moment... my favorite is GLBC's Oktoberbest or Sam Adam's Octoberfest :o)
ReplyDeleteGoose Island Bourbon County Stout is my favorite; it's so smooth and well balanced and ages so well.
ReplyDeleteI made a homebrew imperial pale ale and added some secret ingredients which I thought of (one of which I searched long and hard but I could not find any reference to anyone adding it to beer).
ReplyDeleteAt first the beer was really good but after about 6 months the flavors really came out and it was definitely the best beer I've ever had.
I actually had a friend try it without telling her that it was my creation. The look of "holy crap that's good" made my week.
Fat Tire by New Belgium Brewing! I love the earthly taste and how it pairs with everything!!
ReplyDeleteMy past favorite was the Great Lakes Christmas Ale, but a nice fellow at Whole Foods introduced Thirsty Dog's version of the Christmas Ale and it was love at first sip.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big Oktoberfest fan, but also really love Sam's Summer Ale. Nothing says summer to me better than that!
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to this to taste some new beers because I'm just starting to venture past Corona, lol!
ReplyDeleteNew Belgium's Fat Tire is the current favorite- some good times in Denver with this one.
ReplyDeleteprev19 at gmail.com
Don de Dieu (Belgian Strong Pale Ale) from Unibroue in Chambly, QC,
ReplyDeleteSmooth and refreshing at 9%....
dpfinley at gmail.com
Hands down...Great Lakes Christmas Ale. It's almost that time of year again. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Strongbow, perhaps its the slight cider taste but I'm pretty fond of them all.
ReplyDeleteReally nice topic for me.I read this article and agree with this article.
ReplyDeleteGet Slim Acai
