I have an event to tell you guys about today that will make all lovers of the glorious fermented grape concoction that is wine giddy with excitement. The 6th annual Cleveland Wine Festival presented by Giant Eagle is being held Friday July 29th (4-10pm) and Saturday July 30th (3-9pm) at Voinovich Bicentennial Park in Downtown Cleveland.
The two day event features:
- Over 270 international, domestic and Ohio wines
- Belgian Beer Cafe featuring Stella Artois, Leffe and Hoegaarden
- Food from Morton's, Zinc Bistro, Angelo's Pizza, La Strada, and La Dolce Vita.
- Entertainment from Lloyd Dobler Effect and the Michael Heaton Band
- Wine education, cooking demonstrations and more
The festival's proceeds will benefit the Bright Side of the Road Foundation which is a non-profit organization started in Chagrin Falls to help find a cure for ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease.
As far as benefit pricing goes the admission tickets are very affordable in my opinion - Adult Wine Tasting Tickets are $27 in advance (purchase online here) and $35 at the door and include a souvenir wine glass and 10 tasting tickets. Additional tasting tickets can be purchased as well at Designated Driver tickets for only $10.
You also can.... wait for it...
Enter to win a pair of tickets to the Cleveland Wine Festival here on the plum!
I'm giving away two pairs of tickets to either day of the festival and you can enter to win by doing one or all of the following:

ever since i lived in italy, i've loved chianti and valpolicella. but just last week i had a pinot noir rose which was shockingly delicious! basically, i like all wines. pick me! pick me!
ReplyDeleteI love ALL wine, but grew up drinking red wine and still prefer reds, especially Malbecs. I am always a fan of a good sparkling wine on a summer day as well!
ReplyDeleteI love that kind of wine that is made with grapes... good stuff!
ReplyDeleteParticularly, though, my wife and I really been enjoying wines from Chile and Argentina lately. Great wines at a great price!

I love the strong reds (Merlot, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, etc), but I have a soft spot for dessert wines. I love me them ice wines.
ReplyDeleteMy bf is Italian (I am not) and wine is a cultural ingredient that I understand ;) I can't wait to take him here!
ReplyDeleteI love a really good full-bodied Cab. Plus, it looks so pretty in the fall/winter paired with some nice dark painted nails and a cute over-sized sweater while you're sitting next to a fireplace.
ReplyDeletehow could I choose?!? I love it all. Although in this weather, something crisp and refreshing would be amazing right now!
ReplyDeletePinot Grigio!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend and I are red wine fanatics. Merlot, malbec, or cabernet are usually our favorites.
ReplyDeletei love most white wines but my favorite would have the be riesling! love dr. loosen :)
ReplyDeleteBest. Giveaway. Ever.
ReplyDeleteI love me some red Zin.
I'm a complete wino really. Red in the winter (old zins) and white in the summer! I do love bubbles though. What an awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteIt depends on my mood or season... in the summer it's definitely pinot grigio and in the fall/winter I tend to shift towards a nice cab.

I love a nice crisp white in the hot summer months such as now. But come fall and winter I am a sucker for a big, bold red. Basically, wine in general. Oh, and I tweeted out too!
ReplyDeletewhen it comes to wine, how can you name just one. That is like naming your favorite child, or your favorite food. Can't be done. I could use a chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc right now, though.
ReplyDeleteExcuse me, I tweeted.
ReplyDeleteAnd Facebooked.

I thought it might be interesting to get others' opinions on who they thought might be missing from the list and who is on the list that they wouldn't include.

Oh my, I love so many wines but one of my all-time favorites is the merlot! In fact...I have some decanting right now...gotta love the weekends! :-)
ReplyDeleteFor a while I've been switching between a good Zin or a good Malbec. However, last June my girlfriend and I spent 3 days in Sienna, and did a tour of Brunello. WOW! Tops the charts in my book. I'll promote you on Facebook too, because you are Clevelands Plum :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite kind of wine is pretty much any white or rose wine...usually the sweeter the better. I'm a pretty big fan of Rieslings and any type of "fruit" wine :)
ReplyDeleteMalbec! And it's the day after my birthday. :)
