Georgia on my mind with the Kramers

Tuesday, October 9, 2012

This past weekend I traveled to Atlanta for a get together weekend with CK, his siblings and their little ones.

When I landed Friday night in ATL I quickly skedaddled over to Avis to pick up my rental and head straight to Turner Field to meet up with the Kramer clan and catch the last four innings of the Braves vs Cardinals Wildcard Playoff game.

For those of you who weren't privy of the epic infield fly rule controversy that occurred during the game let's just say I got beer in my hair, thought I was at a Browns game with all the beer throwing and was happy with the outcome.

Turner Field was a beautiful ballpark but when the beer cans started getting thrown I was like, "I did not expect this from these Southerners, y'all."

Saturday was family fun day with BBQ eating, Fall Farm Festival attending, face painting, hay riding, game playing with the little ones, home cookin' and an adult Mario Kart tournament. Yes, a Mario Kart tournament.

CK's sisters Caroline and Maggie with Maggie's husband Chuck and daughter (who live in GA) and Caroline's boyfriend Parker on the picnic table + Parker and Caroline being silly + CK's sister-in-law Katherine, brother Paul, Maggie and Chuck + Parker still being silly
Family fun memory game + the hopefully annual Mario Kart tournament bracket, congrats to Katherine for whipping everyone's butts + All the Kramer siblings together, awesome photo-op!

Even though I may not technically be a part of CK's family they sure made me feel like I was this past weekend. It was pretty darn great spending time with everyone and I can't wait to do it again soon.

Happy Tuesday, kids!

p.s. This is my 999th post here on the plum! Stay tuned in the next couple of days for my 1,000th post extravaganza giveaway - it's going to be AWESOME.

  2. Yay! CK is a Cardinals fan! I like him even more now!

Don't let Southerners fool you. We only act like we have manners. (That said, I was calling the Braves fan trashy in my best judgmental Southerner voice all weekend)

    1. yes he sure is, born and raised in STL!

it was funny because right before all the beer throwing i was commenting on how well spoken, dressed, and classy everyone was around me - not like going to an indians game AT ALL.

then.... all hell broke loose. ha.

  4. Thank god the BRAVES LOST!!! I mean, yeah, technically I'm a Cardinals fan (woot!), but I CAN'T STAND THE BRAVES and their stupid, politically incorrect Tomahawk chop. Anytime their post-season hopes are dashed means my day just got a little brighter. =) So awesome you were at the game! I was in a St. Louis hotel pre-partying for a wedding and couldn't understand why all the guys got silent as they were huddled around the TV. Took listening to ESPN and looking up the infield no-fly rule on the internets to figure out what all the talk was all about. All I can say is if the Braves whine that that one play ruined their chances of the post-season (I feel like I'm watching the Cubs and the Bartman incident all over again), then might I suggest looking at their entire season (if they played better all season, then they wouldn't be in a one-game playoff) and the rest of the game (if they played better before that incident and were significantly in the lead, it'd be a non-issue). /rant on why I hate the Braves

the first time i was kinda like, um ok, it's kinda cool to see everyone doing the same thing but after the 5th, 50th, 500th time i wanted to tomahawk chop their heads off.

  6. Sounds like a fun time -- minus the beer in the hair thing. That sounds like it blows. Ugh. And why do they not make awesome video games like mario kart anymore?! I'm assuming nintendo 64?? God I love N64. LOL.
