Huey Lewis and the News + #CMASundays

Thursday, January 30, 2014

Cold weather? Puh-lease, I had stuff to do this past weekend. Stuff that could warm even my polar vortexed soul.

For example, did you know the heart of rock & roll was (still) beating in Cleveland on Friday?  CK, the Bennett's and I headed to the new Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park for a super sharp sounding Huey Lewis and the News concert

MAJOR props go to the ladies who brought neon signs to a Huey Lewis and the News concert,

Saturday brought more cold and lots of snow but also brought an opportunity to make a warm pot of jambalaya (the kiddos special request) and to stay in and watch a movie. Perfection.

Sunday the snow continued but I had a hot date with a bunch of beautiful lady friends (who also happen to be fellow bloggers) at the Cleveland Museum of Art

We brunched at Provenance, the exquisite dining experience located in the heart of the CMA atrium. Where we gossiped, ate our weight in croissants and took in a screening of the ever so fashionable Madmoiselle C.

This is how you #CMASunday.

Brunch, bubbles, fashion and Allison dressing the part.

What a treat this entire day was.

So, like I said, cold weather? Ain't nobody got time for that.

Happy Thursday, kids.

Disclosure: I was invited as a guest of the CMA for my fabulous Sunday of fun. As always, my opinions are my own.

No excuses, we're all better than that.

I refuse to be the blogger who makes excuses for not posting as much as they used to.

That's lame.

However, I will be the blogger who is completely self aware and acknowledges that this is perhaps the busiest I've ever been in my life.

To be clear, the above sentence is not a complaint.

Life is awesome.

It's filled with exciting new experiences like starting a fulfilling job that I couldn't be more grateful to have, spending time with my brilliant and generous family and finally (!!!) being jazzed about being in the throes of wedding planning.

So instead of excuses for not posting as frequently I'm going to be proud of it. Proud of the fact that I have some other more pressing priorities for the moment. Proud of the fact that after having blogged for over six years now I know that their are peaks and valleys when it comes to a posting cadence - and that's okay.

Now, if you'll excuse me I have a date with a massage pad due to enduring a weekend of heavy labor courtesy of helping my Mom move. The delayed back pain was worth it.

If you really miss me though, find me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram where I post a heck of a lot more frequently.

Happy Tuesday, kids.

Beauty and the Beat

Friday, January 10, 2014

I'm just going to go ahead and leave this video here for you to enjoy because this is the best thing the internet has given me in a longtime.

It's like my Beauty and the Beast obsessing self and my ghetto lovin' self became one.

And to think I thought never the twain shall meet.

Happy Friday, kids!

So, how was your holiday vacation?

Friday, January 3, 2014

Guys, my blog quietly turned six-years-old yesterday.

The simple act of typing that sentence causes me to pause. There's so much to reflect on. So much to be grateful for.

But that's a post for another time.

Today's post is going to be the equivalent of you asking me, "How was your holiday vacation?"

In one word, it was awesome. Let the photo sharing of the last few weeks of my life begin...

Cassi's baby shower celebrations with Jess and the largest stuffed elephant I've ever seen + Holiday party at Reena and Jody's FABULOUS new home

Gina and Danny got engaged and Justin was really excited (little did we know that Justin would also be getting engaged in the upcoming weeks) + CK and my Uncle Nick, politics aside new BFFs + Cousin Melanie and cousin Sissy + Drinks, lots of them, because there's no reason not to have good libations during the holidays

Holiday party at the Foradas's with my cousins that I love so much! Sing-a-longs, Cards Against Humanity, hockey jerseys for Buster and LOTS of laughter.

There's four wonderful generations of my Dad's side of the family represented here, love seeing the little ones (and more mature ones, ha) all together on Christmas Eve + Present time at Pete and Suzanne's

This top shot is my favorite from Christmas Day. The scene, the kiddo said something adult hilarious and my family erupted in laughter- all caught in a single shot. + The kiddo striking a fashion pose and one with Cathi and Greg + The Christmas dinner table, crowns and all

The day after Christmas CK, the kiddo and hopped in the car for a road trip to STL to celebrate with CK's family. I survived the road trip thanks to Dramamine and the pay off of a wonderful time in STL was well worth it..... we went ice skating, saw Christmas lights in a convertible, played games, got to catch-up with friends and ate A LOT. I'd say it was a success.

Celebrating is exhausting (in the best way possible) and my family keeps doing it right through New Year's Day, but I wouldn't change a thing.

There's so much to look forward to in 2014. Ahem, CK and I are getting married in FOUR MONTHS. Probs should start planning and get a dress, huh?

Anyways, enough about me... how was your holiday vacation?
