My favorite wine is that inexpensive bottle, bought on a whim that turns out to be utterly fabulous! (Seems Argentinian wines are fitting this bill lately)

Apparently everyone else is discovering this with all the Malbec I see on here.

But yes, Malbec, Grenache...so many fun bottles to discover.

My favorite summer wine is a sweet catawba from Maize Valley called Hanky Panky. Aside from the, um, inspirational name I love that the wine is locally produced in Hartville, OH. The only thing better than sipping Hanky Panky on my deck is sharing a bottle with friends at the winery's covered patio.

I absolutely ADORE the Pink Catawba, made by Ferrante Winery in Ashtabula. My boyfriend usually savors a dry red wine, but he actually shared a bottle of this incredibly sweet stuff with me last year for my birthday. It's ideal for summer time celebrations or quiet evenings in the Cleve.

I have been all about riesling for quite a few years- it reminds me of summertime at La Dolce Vita in Little Italy.

For the summer I love Dashwood Sauvignon Blanc. It smells and tastes of passion fruit, and is deliciously clean and crisp. Perfect for a hot summer evening. Great value too, it's only about $10 a bottle!

During the summer, any cold white would be perfect but what I really enjoy, since I'm still learning my wines, is when I pick just the right one for a party that makes all the guests happy. Especially those guests that know more about wine than I do.

I prefer the dessert wines, and the sweeter the better! I LOVE that Ohio has ice wine. I always take it home to Texas when I go visit family and friends. Ice wine is my absolute favorite. I'd have to say a close 2nd to ice wine is Pink Catawba.
